Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary
Cedar Row Sanctuary has been operating for more than twenty-one years as a place of hope for animals rescued from abuse, neglect and slaughter. Abuse that happens at meat, milk, and egg farms. Since it was established, the farm has rescued hundreds of farm animals including pigs, cows, goats, sheep, donkeys, rabbits, turkeys, chickens, ducks and geese.
We have volunteered many times at this particular sanctuary and can personally attest to what a wonderful place of peace this is. Please check out their website and consider making a monthly donation.
Animal Justice Canada
Animal Justice is Canada’s only national animal law advocacy organization. In the world we live in, animals need lawyers, and the Animal Justice legal team works to protect animals from cruelty and neglect. Canada has some of the worst animal protection laws in the western world, and their mission is to overhaul the legal system to better reflect the country’s values of compassion and justice for all.
Whether animals are used for food, fashion, experiments, entertainment, or in the pet trade, Animal Justice fights for the legal protections that these animals desperately need and deserve. Check out their online store for a variety of ways to support animals in need in Canada.
Fair/Square is Canada's first online concept store for fair and vegan products from socially-conscious Canadian brands. The company itself donates 10% of all annual proceeds to local sanctuaries and vegan-minded organizations.
Fair/Square ships plastic free wherever possible. Their shipping boxes are made out of 100% recycled and recyclable content. Sea Shepherd works to support ocean protection and conservation through involvement in local events, the sale of official Sea Shepherd merchandise, fundraising activities, and by educating the public about our international campaigns and world ocean news. With innumerable marine wildlife species on the brink of extinction, the stakes are high and Sea Shepherd is always on the front lines.
From the inception in 1977, as a small organization with one boat, Sea Shepherd has grown to become a global movement of thousands of passionate and courageous volunteers working on the decks of ten ships – and soon to be more – operating all around the planet. Their message over these last four decades has been consistent and transparent: expose, intercept, and oppose illegal operations that damage and destroy marine wildlife and habitats.
The people of Sea Shepherd are known to be incorruptible, passionate, persistent, professional, cooperative, and effective. Together they fearlessly defend life and diversity in the oceans. Support their work by purchasing one of their many items in their shop or make a donation to your local chapter.

While searching the web for a pair of wool-free socks I could get for my family this past Christmas, I came across this company: Conscious Step. Socks that help various organizations through their sales. Each pair is uniquely designed, ethically manufactured and partnered with a first class nonprofit to fund impact for the world's to-do list: the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Be it educating kids, fighting hunger or treating disease, each pair makes a real difference for the things that matter. Each pair is a conscious step.
The varieties above for example, you can find socks that help protect the habitats of penguins and sloths, even turtles or lions! Check out their full selection of products at their website link below.
Obviously this is just a short list, and there are many more options out there, but we hope it gives you a place to start when looking for ways you can give back or support an organization that helps to pay it forward. Let us know your favourite animal sanctuary or vegan clothing company so we can check them out too!
